[BC] prosecuting FCC violations

I recently had a conversation about this with a retired Federal Department of Justice prosecutor. He informed me of things of which I was not aware.

The FCC does not prosecute. The FBI does not prosecute. MSA (Mine Safety Administration) does not prosecute. ONLY the Justice Department prosecutes.

The Justice Department has a budget, just like everybody else. The Chief Prosecutors for the Judicial Districts allocates their budget according go what the think is best use of resources. The prosecution of FCC pirates are not of a high priority, unless they cause a problem to public safety, etc.

Right now the Justice Department is spending a lot of their budget prosecuting folks in the financial sector. Google Preet Bharara for information about a big investigation under way.

The fact is that the congress has never told any law enforcement agency or the Justice Department to spend all they need to enforce laws and prosecute wrongdoers. That is just the fact of life.

MY friend told me that there is a constant fight within agencies to get funding for projects. And yes, a call from a Senator And or Representative can change things.

I can imagine the problems the department heads face. "Spend more money to nail the child sex ring......OOOo....yeah I will put those radio pirates on the back burner".

And lets face it, the FCC does not have any glitz.
