I'm sure some animals do benefit, but almost all animals meet gruesome 
deaths because they live in the wild, where they are killed by other 
animals or they starve. That includes even the most successful, Darwin's 
winners. Rarely does anything in nature die of old age.

What I find perplexing are self-prclaimed vegans who keep cats. The cat is 
an obligate carnivore; it must eat meat or die, and if allowed to roam 
freely outdoors, it will kill everything it can until it meets something 
like a coyote.

My old college radio station once kept a cat, called Fat Cat, in whose 
name subscriptions for various trade magazines were taken out. The cat was 
gone by the time I got there, but we were still getting Broadcast 
Engineering and Broadcast Management/Engineering magazines addressed to "F 
Katt, Sr. Engineer".
