I'm sure some animals do benefit, but almost all animals meet gruesome
deaths because they live in the wild, where they are killed by other
animals or they starve. That includes even the most successful, Darwin's
winners. Rarely does anything in nature die of old age.
What I find perplexing are self-prclaimed vegans who keep cats. The cat is
an obligate carnivore; it must eat meat or die, and if allowed to roam
freely outdoors, it will kill everything it can until it meets something
like a coyote.
My old college radio station once kept a cat, called Fat Cat, in whose
name subscriptions for various trade magazines were taken out. The cat was
gone by the time I got there, but we were still getting Broadcast
Engineering and Broadcast Management/Engineering magazines addressed to "F
Katt, Sr. Engineer".
