All Optimod-FMs, from the 8000A to the present day, have had correct 
stereo/mono switching that in mono removes the pilot, removes the 
stereo subcarrier, and makes appropriate audio gain adjustments to 
make up for the fact that the pilot is no longer present. However, 
this adjustment *does* assume that the pilot injection is 9% in stereo.
