[BC] FM Stereo Question

I'm not an FM Guy, but back when I worked at a local FM station, and we were broadcasting a football or basketball game, I would go over to the Optimod and put the station into mono. My think was we would have better coverage in mono. This was back in the 80's.

My car radio doesn't have a "Stereo" light on it, so I don't know when an FM is in mono or stereo.

If it was me, and my programming was news/talk/sports, I would keep it in mono. Just my 2 cents worth.
