OK My turn LOL
My neighbor had half a tree fall and it fell across the fence and knocked
down a couple lines feeding my house. The lines were my Comcast cable which
was in use and a feed from Knology which hasn't been hooked up in years.
Note that it takes a pole hop to get to my house so from the main pole to
the hop pole all was well but from the hop pole to the house they were down.
I called Comcast and they came right out and replaced the line from the
house to the main pole fixing the problem. A call to Knology returned a
reply of you're not a current customer so we won't be able to come out and
help you. I laughed and said ok your choice and I had the Comcast guy cut
their feed off at the hop pole while he was up there replacing the line to
my house with a promise I wouldn't tell anyone. LOL So time passes and 3
weeks or so later the other half of the tree falls down and it falls the
other way and hits the lines between the hop pole and the main pole. The
power in my house was doing really odd things like I start a microwave and
it would run for a few seconds than die. Lights, heat you name it
everything was really weird as if something was shorting out. I check
everything I can with meters and such and can't find anything so I call the
power company and they send out a truck. Make a long story short the second
tree hit the other section of Knology line and wrapped it around the power
feed and shorted everything down their lines to ground burning up their line
and that section of the power line to my house. The power company replaced
the line to my house and then another call to knology and talking to
management brought two of their trucks out in disbelief. The guys seemed
unconcerned and obviously didn't want to be there. I tried talking with
them about what happened and there was little to no reply. They simply cut
it off at the main pole and tossed it in the back of his truck and drove
away. I heard one of them say why didn't they just cut it off and nail it
to the pole to get it out of the yard. The other guy said something along
the lines of one day when he wants us back I'm not coming out here and
running a new line. It was as if I wasn't even standing 6' away. LOL
Anyway They send constant ads and I instantly trash them. I'll go back to
dish before I go back to Knology. Oh one other note. My phone lines from
AT&T were pulled down this last time as well. Multiple calls to them have
the lines still laying on the ground. I guess they feel they can't reach
the pole since both tree parts are still laying there but no one else has
had a problem so why should they?
Have a good one
Mike
