I used to feel the same way about all three and still do about
Twitter and MySpace. Facebook is a different breed. I received an
email from a former Boss asking me to become a friend on Facebook.
I've been in Radio for a very long time and the last 20 years in
syndication and networks. I've met hundreds of people and lost touch
with many of them.

Once I joined it they came out of the woodwork. Friends from cities
I've lived in and PDs, GMs, Talent, etc. I've been on it for about 9
months and have reconnected with about 200 people.

For those on the list who are members, don't ever respond to an email
claiming to link you to a person's page. Always log on directly. The
person named in the email isn't responsible and probably has no idea
his or her name is being used.

It's especially good for people in this industry where most move
around every few years and keeping track of them is difficult. It's
brought me more business than anything else. These are relationships
already developed so introductions, interviews, etc. aren't necessary.

The service is free and, most likely, saves tax dollars probably as
much as any of their online services.
