[BC] My Troublesome OfficeJet 7000 - Progress

Hello:

Blue Ribbon goes out to Jason :-)

The printer is connected directly to the network, and my Win XP client computers are all happily printing to it.

The bad news :-) When I add a Standard TCP/IP port on a windows 2000 computer, I get a message saying "unable to lad TCP Mib Library" I visit to Microsoft's support site got me on the trail of an incompatible DLL file. I deleted that and now when I get to the printer install Finish screen, I get an error message saying that the printer cannot be installed because the printer (something or another) does not exist. Microsoft had a link to a hotfix site, which let me down a dead end. Hotfix no longer exists and the page explains upgrade strategies for a new O/S. Thanks for nothing, Microsoft.

So all of my windows 2000 machines are screwed up, because at one time or another, I installed this %&*(^&*((** HP printer software on all of my available Win 2000 laptops. They now have the same disease.

Another major bug is that if I go to the Printers page from Control Panel in Win 2000, I cannot delete the errant HP printer install icons! The Printers page hangs after I click Delete and becomes unresponsive. So short of taking a 44 magnum and blowing these POS computers into next tuesday, how do I go about deleting these printer icons? I reinstalled the service pack (4) but no help.

Last HP product I ever buy. What a nightmare! Their customer support sucks swamp water just like their products. My suggestion to the members here is to not buy an HP anything; unless of course, you are OK with useless/nonexisting tech support.

Many thanks to all who have helped me getthis far. The current printer situation is a failure because if the printer can't work with all of my computers, I can't use it. It is supposed to be compatible with Win 2000; that's why I bought this POS. I will try any suggestions you have for fixing the win2000 hang problem. I'm pretty lost at this point.
