I fully agree with Powell. One of the things stressed by Robert Orban in the Optimod manuals is that source audio should be as clean and distortion free as possible. I'm always disappointed in the attitude that "most people can't tell the difference in WAV vs mp3". While that may be true, as professional broadcasters, why do it? It is much easier today with access to good equipment to have a quality audio chain than when we used tape and records as those required more care to make 'em sound good. And I've done that. Hard drive space ain't expensive anymore.
On the other hand, if it's your plant, you're free to do whatever you want. USA!

We will NOT use MP3 unless we have to. It's like taking a dollar (
analog audio ) and converting it to a dime. 90% of it is gone. And
yes, if you have ANYthing digital in the audio chain it will cause a
problem.
Too many people want to accept crappy quality artifact laden extremely
data reduced digital as good.
