    If my memory isn't totally out-to-lunch. . .
There was a problem in some CRL boxes (two that were at client
stations of mine) that puts glitches on the audio waveform - near,
but not at, the baseline - because the full-wave-rectifier opamp
is driven directly from the audio path. I think I figured out
that inserting a unity-gain buffer between the audio path and
the input to the f.w.r. opamp got rid of the glitches.

This is similar to a problem in the first model of Aphex
Compellor. . . the one with the early cross-coupled output stage
that you could ground one side of, and the other side would jump
up in gain by 6 dB to compensate. That circuit works fine into
a 600 ohm load, but if you hook it to a _bridging_ load, say
20k ohms, the output waveform would develop glitches near the
baseline that sounded ugly. Adding a 600-ohm resistor between
pins 2 and 3 of the XLR output connector dropped the distortion
to inaudible.
