We had the following issue with some Moseley Starlinks some time ago. I
believe the problem has been fixed by Moseley and newer units should
work ok.

The Starlink as originally unmodified set a AES as "data" and also set
a "digital preemphasis" bit. This will keep some AES input exciters and
processors from working. The tech bulletin explains how to lift two
pins on an IC to take care of the problem.
Better have a magnifier handy!
