Jeff Glass inquired: "I'm often faced with computers that either lock up or hang. The utilities that come with the O/S are useless for troubleshooting these problems.  Almost invariably, they show that all computer resources are unused.

What is a good third party application that can be used to troubleshoot these kinds of problems that would cost under $100.00"

Try the SysInternals suite, a freebie from Microsoft.  None of the apps in this suite require installation and can be run from a USB drive or a CD.  They can be used for everything from diagnosing hanging computers to eradicating spyware, and drills down into Windows far deeper than Task Manager, MSCONFIG or anything else that comes with Windows.
