If the near site can get a T-1, the Intraplex (as well as others) can
safely carry several sets of stereo pairs using minimally lossy
compression. The PTR-255 cards are MP2 and will carry stereo at 384kpbs or
dual mono at 192Kbps ea. If the stations are AM, the compression will not
be noticable.

I have a system running linear for the FM and using this card system for
carrying two more mono AM's in the same T-1...with room to spare for IP. 
The AM's upload in already converted AES right to a digital STL for the
final hop to the TX's.
