FM DA patterns also can be generated by means other than using parasitic 
radiators.

For example, panel antennas can generate directional patterns depending on 
the free-space pattern of the individual panels, the number of panels used 
at each elevation on the tower, the azimuth orientation of the panels on the 
tower face(s), and the r-f power and phase in each panel.
