Most power companies require minimum 20 KW demand to get demand billing. If
you do not have at least one billing period in a year over 20 KW they will
put you on a standard rate. I used to make sure I had one billing per year
over 20 kw. Made for one large bill but 11 very small bills per year. Well
worth it. I had done so much improvements to the AC and energy use, I no
longer used enough for the demand billing unless I wasted some energy once a
year.

Scott,
Since your power draw is pretty constant, you might consider talking to the
power company about demand billing. This might save you some money on your
bill. Also, if you have a generator, many utilities offer a substantial
discount to users who are willing to go offline under brownout conditions.
You
probably could trade out an electrical start generator for your 1 kW BE-a
5-7
KW should be plenty, even to run the basics at your studio.
