[BC] Long Wire

Hi Dave,

Nothing happened to the tower except it was up temporarily, then this year the farmer who's land it was on was disinclined to allow it again!

So now its on my neighbouring acre, but unfortunately I've got overhead power lines so can't erect much.

There are probably about 8 AM Stereo receivers in Ireland, and I think we've got 7 of them! And yes we're using the BE's AM Stereo gen.

I wonder if any of you guys would recommend a different antenna setup, given what we've got available? The wind-up will go to about 100 feet.

What's interesting about the earth system, is that there seems to be a lot of current being drawn in some wires, less in others. I get a nice spark when disconnecting one or two, much less with the others. One (insulated) radial even burned through its insulation near its far end and started arcing to ground the other week!

Hello Andy:

Give us some details on what happened to your tower.

Also are you using the Motorola AM Stereo built into the BE transmitter? Are there many AM Stereo radios in Ireland?

Regards,
