The Collins/Continental 212P-1/212P-2 Audio Consoles Utilized and Externally mounted Power Supply. Also and optional external Machine Control Interface.

The console was one of he first consoles to allow easy interface for special effects on the microphone channel. (Insertion Points). Also built-in accessable auxiliary inputs and outputs for "echo effects" and telephone bybrid "Mix-minus".

One of the best features was the built-in solid state headphone amplifier. The amplifier card was essentially the same as the "program amplifier" and monitor amplifier card. It had plenty of power to blow headphones or the person between the headphones away with very little distortion. No other console had a headphone amplifier capable of this power level at the time.

I am forwarding information on the external power transformer as requested to Barry and requesting that he post on Old Radio.com.

The largetst drawback to the console was the locking pushbutton on/off switches which controlled the Mosfet on-off. The switches were mechanical latching. It is obivious that the console in the photograph has been modified.

I would like to know the type of switch used and was this a ltaching switch or was their some additional electronics to make the pushbtton to operate a flip-flop operating the mosfet switch.

I would like to hear from Mr. David Gowler at WXOJ-LP please email mail or call me at (888) 822-1078.

Thanks
