Bill,
My understanding is that it is up to owner/licensee. I do a weekly reading. I read the antenna base current at the ATU, but in the past few weeks, with all the snow, it's been hard to do without falling and breaking more bones and more pain in my back. I've been getting my wife to do that for me, due to my disability.
I feel doing weekly readings and documentation shows you're keeping an eye on things. There is no set time (hours, weeks, days, etc) that an operator must log readings. That's my understanding on this. Back in the early 90's, I worked at an FM where we took readings every 3 hours, then an engineer told me that rule was eliminated.
To be sure, check with a reliable FCC attorney, but I think I'm right.
