DAs on Class channels have been allowed since the 1960s ... since all
Class Cs were permitted to apply for 1 kW days, with a DA, only if
necessary. There were two such stations in Southern California alone.
And, more elsewhere.

However, no such Class Cs have ever been allowed to operate with a DA
during night hours.

And, anyway, no such Class C was allowed to exist at all unless the
night or day power was at least 250 watts.

However, the two ... count :em ... TWO Class Cs on a Class III ...
now Class B ... channels were allowed to remain 1/0.1 kW. Every other
Class C was allowed to go at least 1/0.25.

KGFJ ... er, KYPA ... was allowed to go 1 kW DA-1, with 241 towards
the two co-channels.

Over time, I:m sure there will be many more exceptions.

Indeed, Class Bs on expanded band channels are supposed to be 10/1
ND2, however at least one such expanded band station has been allowed
10 kW DA-2, also in California, based largely upon a showing that,
even with 10 kW nights, there would be no possibility of another such
expanded band station be awarded.
