[BC] Our discourse is getting coarser

Good manors and civility have never gone out of style. There is just a lot
of abuse today that didn't exist previously.
This brings to mind a situation into which I was cast a few weeks ago.
My spouse and I often get into my pick-up on Sunday mornings, grab a fast
food
breakfast and sit in the truck to read through the Sunday paper. On this
given Sunday
two HD motorcycle guys rode up and parked their bikes right next to the
passenger side of the truck. The proceded to drink their coffee and talk
loudly, overusing the
F-word and the MF word. This was bothering my spouse to the point that
something had to be done. So, wondering if I should call 911 in advance, I
went around the truck and confronted the two of them. (a 70-year old guy
probably should not risk his life this way) . Surprised, the chief
offender apologized profusely saying he "didn't realize" he was talking that
way.
Many times this is the case...... some people who use foul language don't
realize that what they say in the pool room is not proper in a more
civilized setting.
I have no doubt been guilty myself, but I try to be aware of the
surroundings.
