[BC] Internet STLs

Actually, chip I have teted it and yes, 128 kbps MP3 audio s**ks. So does 96
kbps, 48 kbps and 32 kbps PAC-yet thousands of radio stations advertise these
as "CD quality".

BUT 128 kbps AAC sounds pretty da*n good-so good that the IEC calls it
'transparent' to the average listener.

And 192/160 kpbs 44.1 MP3 is where MP3 is in its 'sweet spot'-and it sounds
pretty good too.

Perfect? Hardly-but far better then 128 Kbps MP3 sounds.

Most FM stereo STLs I spec. run MP3 at a minimum of 160 kbps. Ones that won't
make that data rate I recommend running MPEG2 24 kbps sampling at 128 kbps.
Yes they lose the top 3 kHz, but with the average amount of high frequency
limiting going on in the typical FM processor, it's gone anyway.

With mono, I recommennd 96 kbps MP3 or 64 kbps MPEG2 sampled at 22.05 kHz (for
AM use).

That said, I know many who run 64 kbps AAC+ for FM STLs (something that I
don't recommend).

These are today's realities. I didn't make the rules-nor do I agree with many
of them. BUT I can't find work because my stated opposition to IBOC and other
thngs on this list makes some consider me me a loose cannon (Hi LARK-did I
tell you that I went to the HADLEY grade school?).

Do be it....

I am going to admit that I MIGHT be a minority regarding those who
KNOW what they are listening to, but that isn't the complete story.

People listen to "compromised" audio. They don't know why they don't
like it, but they don't.

128 kbs audio s**ks.

Used as an STL, it REALLY s**ks

YOU have not really tested it.
