I had a friend that briefly worked for 98 Rock. That place was a
well-engineered operation with some pretty neat toys to work with. It
doesn't supprise me that there's a excellent, energetic CE there
behind the scenes making it all happen. It shows in how well the
place worked.
WIYY and WBAL are pretty unique stations in that they are the last of
the old Hearst radio group. That's a good thing because they're
allowed lots of local input from their professionals that work there.
Too bad we don't have more 98 Rocks and WBALs left in our industry.
It's good to know that people as dedicated as they are will be the
primary entry point for the national EAS system. If the ball gets
dropped someday when and if the system is activated it won't be from
their end....
