The Axia System works as advertised. Audio from outside sources go to
either Analog or AES nodes, each node accepts either 8 analog or 8 AES
inputs and has 8 compounding out puts. Their Mix Engine is Proprietary
(LiveWire) but the technology has been licensed by several partners.
For instance I can go directly into my Omnia One with a Cat 5 from my
network switch, or from a Axia audio driver in my automation system, the
driver simulates an audio card. Audio Sciences also makes a LiveWire
card, if you prefer to do the DSP stuff on the card and take the load
off your computer's CPU.

I have not used their software control surface, but understand it works
well.

Their "Pathfinder" routing/mixing software application adds a whole lot
of flexibility especially when combined with GPIO.

and I am guessing it accepts audio from outside sources via a network
connection or USB or such... is the audio engine proprietary, or, can
you
install other audio converters...? (digigram, asi, etc.)

?
