My wife and I each have an Asus 701 netbook with Linux. We got them for
$110 each from http://www.mwave.com . Louise's sister just got one on my
suggestion and also loves it. The keyboard is a little small, but the
light weight and small size makes it really worthwhile. I use it on my bus
commute to work every day. It has wifi, but there is no wifi on the bus,
so I plug it in to my cellphone for Internet access. I've bought a little
USB Bluetooth transceiver for it and am working on getting it running. The
701 comes with Firefox, Thunderbird, Open Office, and lots more. It has
speakers, microphone, and webcam and comes with Skype, so you can do video
calls. It also has wired Ethernet. Control-ALT-T opens a terminal window.
I use that to ssh tunnel to my server for imap email, though I generally
use SquirrelMail web mail.

I really like the Asus 701.
