[BC] Long-range WiFi

Dear Braintrust,

I must be completely wrong, but I read things as saying that 100 mW max 
ERP is the limit for 802.11 b/g. That would be in the beam of a DA. 
This would make a DA useless for range extension yet Yagis and other 
gain antennas are widely available.

My question also includes power amplifiers, which generally say "not for 
use in the USA".

Can someone point me at the applicable rule?  Or is this a case where 
one would be very, very unlikely to be caught?
