Some more information that you might like to know about:

The tower was sectionalized and top loaded to beat the band.  It did 
have a base insulator.  The dark building with the stacks is the 
generator building.  At 1 MW the power bill was astounding, lots of very 
expensive diesel.

There was really no further use for Loran even as an "emergency" system 
if GPS failed.  I have not seen a LORAN receiver in a commercial or 
fishing vessel in ten years.

Perhaps the military still has a stash of them.  So Loran follows OMEGA 
into the history books.
