If I may, each of us has an opinion about certain models
and/or manufacturers of equipment. Jon correctly stated
one issue. The station, NOT the engineer, chose the gear.
We as engineers are charged with the responsibility of
maintaining and repairing what their superiors purchased.

Chastising or criticizing the choice only further burdens
the engineer. More than likely, the engineer is painfully
aware of the consequences of the choice. He/she may
even agree with the criticsim, but that does NOT help
in any way. When help is asked for, let's try to give it.
Help, not hinder. How would you feel if it were you
who was faced with a similar situation?
