From another list I am on:

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!

It is a terrible solution but... IT WORKS!!!

Guess which was the best seller device in the last month here in Chile (after the mega earthquake)...

THE OLD STANDARD BATTERY ANALOG RADIO TUNER, WITH AM!!!!!!!

Why? Because:

1) Cellular phones didn't work.

2) Digital media (Internet, etc.) didn't work.

3) The power electric lines collapsed so... there wasn't electricity almost all over the country!!!

4) The only one operative service was... THE OLD ANALOG BROADCASTING RADIOS (AM and FM) AND TV CHANNELS (here we still have analog NTSC service). Of course, the old radio ham service was operative all the time. We could know about the first, and second, and third tsunami waves because a brave ham from "Constitución" (one of the very devastated cities near the central earthquake point), even the fact the local government didn't know about this (they didn't have direct communication with the sea coast zone because the cellphones weren't operative, it was a very exasperating situation).

SO... The solution is a very huge, mega, earthquake in the area of the FCC central office!!! Then they will understand (maybe) what important and serviceable is the old analog radio communication system.

Of course, it is a pity that office is in a very crowd area. Maybe we could invite the FCC people to Chile to learn about this problem, "in situ".

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!!!
