Hi Tom (and all!),
A UK Based "lurker" here. I had a similar situation recently with a
system called BCX which also uses APT files.
APT do a plug-in for Adobe Auditon. I've just looked at mine and it
has a file-type option for "APT Scott DSS codec (*.dss)" which you
could use with an Adobe Batch script.

simonhardwick.com and I'll try and convert it here and forward you
contact details for the guy who deals with it. Unfortunately the
product seems to have vanished from their website!
