Nyuk, nyuk! P.T. Barnum strikes again! You should have hooked up his
speakers with Romex, or better yet, 000. That should handle the wattage.
But, assuming that his speakers had any efficiency at all (i.e. not Acoustic
Research or similar) he could fill up the room with less than one watt per
channel. Anything bigger than magnet wire would work at that power level.
