I think the weakest link applies here. What's to be gained by 
connecting such a perfect connector to an imperfect cable. I'd 
replace everything going back to the power company and make sure no 
other customer is connected to the line. Since power companies no 
longer generate their own power that means replacing all the high 
voltage lines or adding additional ones totally separate connected to 
a dedicated generator/alternator at a single power plant. That would 
eliminate the risk of fouling the power quality when they switch 
power plants to get the cheapest rates.

After all that's done you'll have to play Diogenes and look for an 
honest audio source.

I'd love to get access to the house of the guy who actually heard a 
difference and replace this stuff, without his knowledge, with the 
cheapest Home Depot has to offer to see if his hearing is as awesome 
as he'd have us believe. Would he notice something wrong?

My guess is no.
