In one case, I owned a very heavy tower on a mountain top.  It was an  
H tower, guyed in SIX directions.  It was built to withstand nearby  
nuclear explosions and continue to provide a telephone backbone for  
the Air Force.

American Tower got it  from us, and ultimately sold the land, but had  
to remove the tower.  The new owner built his dream home.

Nobody wanted the tower.

But that's the problem- these are really HEAVY towers.  Generally us hams aren't interested in anything bigger than Rohn 55.
Anything with a 2' face and under works well for us.
