Yes. I was part of that little project. It had been off the air for nearly a
year. No landline STL any more, no AC power to the shack. We rigged a remote
FM transmitter as a temporary STL and ran a portable generator for AC power.

That was but one of many indignities suffered by that poor ground system. At
one point, they dumped tons of gravel and made a parking lot. Then when they
wanted an athletic field, they bulldozed the gravel and landscaped -
including draining ditches. The ground system was re-laid at least two times
in the 1970s to remediate some of the damage. To no avail anyhow, since the
transmitter site is in the shadow of a granite hill much higher than the
tower!

If this is the station that I am thinking about... I provided a
proposal last year to either move it or rebuild the ground system. As I
recall the athletic fields had encroached onto the ground system in the
past and and were about to either displace the station or encroach even
further. I don't recall all of the details.
