Strange things can happen. I remember a Twilight Zone episode where 
the overnight jock decided to crank up the power. It created a path 
for an alien creature to ride to Earth to do the terrible damage 
aliens are alleged to do.  A very unfair stereotype, I think. The 
only alien who fits the stereotype is Dick Cheney.
