I am a  R. O. F.  and was at PR&E at that time.  It was a 
new
sales person (a.k.a. "order taker") who said that. 
Internally
it went over like a lead balloon.   But once published the 
cat
was out of the bag, so to speak.

I think the poor misguided soul was trying to emphasize the
magnificent square-wave response that the machine had.
This was due in part to the special  (large)  heads used and
in part to the electronics.  I don't have the schematic at 
hand
but as I remember there was a delay equalizer involved, I
think it was in the record path.
