[BC] Sat Internet Service

Like I said, you'll have to use a UDP based protocol. If you try to use a TCP
based one, your latency will go through the roof.
What's important with UDP is that packet loss be minimized. The decoder can
conceal errors-but only to a certain point. This means that your satellite
installation needs to be pristine. You might also try to find out who your
satellite's backbone provider is-and use them at your studio end as well if
possible.

Oh one more thing. What others have said here is true-both Hughes and Wildblue
impose byte limits on both upload and download. Keep this in mind. You'll need
to buy a package that has enough bandwidth capacity for streaming.

Just for reference, a 96 kbps stream running 24/7 uses about 3 gigabytes a
month.

Dana,

We will most likely be using Barix stuff for the audio. How well does
it tolerate Sat or wireless?

I have a local wireless service here at my office. It sometimes has
>100ms latency but is usually around 75ms.
