A ganged inductor refers to two (usually identical)
variable coils placed one in front of the other with
a common shaft rotating both at the same time. This
configuration is typically employed in variable phase
shift networks in a phasor. Such as "Phase Tower 2"
etc. The benefits or lack thereof of this approach
could be debated ad naseum.

Gangs can be tough. I'm from a factory neighborhood. I
can't say with truth that I ever saw an inductor carrying
a Mack 10 though :-)
