There's no reason to believe that Win7 will be any different than any other version of Windows...meaning, it will take a while for the hardware folks to develop Win7-compliant drivers.  A quick check of HP's web site shows no drivers for Win7 for some of the Vista-ready HP notebooks we use at work, and the driver specs for Win7 were published months ago.  Trying Vista drivers is a crap-shoot at this point.  The OS kernels are similar, but not precisely the same.

As always, the rule-of-thumb is not to be an early adopter of a new Microsoft OS.  Wait until at least Service Pack 1.  By that time, most of the most serious bugs have been dealt with.
