You need to research the HP to see if you can even get XP Drivers for the Hardware, Most of the vendors got pretty ticked that they had to re-design thier hardware for the vista model forcing them to re-do the drivers as well. I know that the graphics drivers can be a real pain. And many Vista designed hardware just doesn't want to work w/ XP.
Not sure if you are Rolling it back to XP or it's a fresh install but I would find out for sure if the Hardware will run under XP before I wasted a lot of time re-doing it.
