They were popular, as was WCUE, but nothing like The Buzzard.

That was the money maker when that ownership switched
format on WMMS to "progressive rock" as an aside.
"Fourteen twenty, Super channel fourteen, color radio" was one
of the very dominant stations then, but WIXY had a standing joke
at that time, that if WIXY dropped to a 50 share ( that's fifty, not
5 point oh ) that none of the staff would get paid !
Those WERE radio's glory days ! ( not to be confused with WERE
at 1300 also in Cleveland )
