Doing Shoutcast with a Barix Instreamer 100 is very easy. here's how:
First, sign up with a Shoutcast provider. They will give you three things: a
password, IP address and port. You will also negotiate a quality (bandwidth)
level with them. This and how many listeners you want determines the monthly
price you pay them.
First, go to the audio page of the Instreamer. Set the encoding to MP3 44.1
kHz. Leave the quality at 0 for now.
Click Apply.
Next, go to the streaming page. Mid way down the page there's eight lines that
say STREAM TO.
On the second line select Shoutcast. Next, put the IP address the provider
gave you in the boxes. Do the same with the port they gave you. Click apply.
Now go to the security tab. On the password line for shoutcast, put the
password the provider gave you. Click apply
Your shoutcast is now working. The only thing you have to do now is set the
quality. On the audio page increase the qualty from 0 to 2. Talk to your
provider and find out if you are exceeding the bandwidth you bought from him.
If not, then increase to 3. If yes, then decrease to 1. Keep doing this
unbtil you get the proper bandwidth. Don't forget to click apply after each
setting.
That's it!

Subject: Re: [BC] Using Barix for shoutcast
I need more info on how to use the Barx encoder as a shoutcast server. I have
checked the Shoutcast site, but am a bit confused.
I do have the Barix device already. Any assistance is appreciated. The
cleinte seems to think he will have 1000 connections.
Thanks
