Howdy folks!

I'm back from the Fall NAB and a nice visit to NYC. Special thanks to
Mike Erickson and Bruce Schiller of CBS, and Rodney Belizaire at WQXR
for their kind hospitality. Call it a busman's holiday, but it was
nice to see some old friends, and to meet Brew for the first time in person.

It was also nice to see a number of folks at the NAB show itself.
I've said some more in the editorial on <http://www.thebdr.net/>the
BDR If you haven't seen it, or subscribed for the weekly reminder,
please do so - <http://www.thebdr.net/>it only takes a moment.

OCTOBER ITEMS:

1. We are moving to a newer/faster server machine tonight. Should not
be a major issue. But, there might be some delays later tonight.

2. We've had a few new subscribers this month, and it is worth
explaining again WHY we have a quote counter, which rejects any post
(over 20 lines) with over 80% quotes (or after the line "original message").

    * EVERY WEEK, I get at least three to five "mistakes" where
someone hits "Reply" by mistake and then sends a Digest right back to
the list. This would normally generate another Digest on the spot. By
catching these, we prevent the wasted input to your inbox.

3. The BDR has continued to grow, although it has been a bit slow in
the past week. Look for a bunch of new articles over the next seven
days. Can I ask you to tell your friends and co-workers about the
BDR? Thanks!

4. oldradio.com and theBDR.net may have some slight glitches after
the move, so if you see one, please let me know. Again, my thanks.

5. Finally, we do appreciate very much the support from
<http://www.systemsstore.com/>SystemsStore and
<http://www.bwbroadcast.com/>Broadcast Warehouse. They help pay for
the costs of running the server. If you have the opportunity, ask
them for a quote or buy something. Or, let them know you appreciate
they are supporting the lists.

... and now back to your regularly scheduled October.

Thanks for being part of the Broadcast community.
