BMI has been trying to collect fees from Part 15 microbroadcast stations.
A few years back they got a hold of a web site listing hundreds of Part 15
operators, and proceeded to contact every one with a listed e-mail address,
including me.
At first I just ignored them, but BMI e-mailed me again about a month
later. I told them (truthfully) my 100mW AM "station" was just a hobby
and it hadn't been on the air regularly for a long time; since then they
have left me alone, but they did reply saying they were "sorry that my
station wasn't successful." (!?)
