I just Googled that, and found some very interesting information about this 
particular weed. It grows quite fast, and is prolific throughout the Southeast. 
Apparently, just one good growing season is all it would need to schieve what 
you've described. Nasty stuff.

It's good for cows and other grazing livestock, tho.
