I would concur with Glen's approach here.

The built-in mic in that little box is quite adequate for what you describe,
and you'd still have the advantage of being able to take the memory card out
and stick it in any reader in the prod room.

As always appreciate your input.

Which would have been my approach in the past, however, the link to the
internet in one package and lack of need for studio gear is part of the
exercise as well.

I'm not suggesting the bugger replace a studio, but for easy down and dirty
edits and sending audio back to the mother ship.....

The size is better than a full blown laptop and with a networkable device at
hand can send stuff ftp or email. Last time I checked there were an
increasing number of software bits that handle mp4.

Are most stations utilizing AAC+ mp4 in the audio somewhere? I've been away
from the day to day so long that I've lost touch (even more than usual).
