The comments here about how to upgrade to Pro are accurate - back up your
data, make sure you have copies of the original installation disks for your
applications (along with any updates, perhaps saved on CD), and the license
keys for any applications that need them.  Then, wipe the hard drive and
install XP Pro fresh.

The major difference between XP Pro and Home is that Home does not support
domain networking. So, if the machine is being put on a domain on a network
in the office, you won't be able to use it on the network except for very
basic things like internet access.

One note of caution about Home as well - many of the vertical market
software vendors that support radio broadcasters do not support XP Home.
So, there's another reason to upgrade to Professional.

You also might want to think about Windows 7 when it arrives (should the
machine be powerful enough to support it).  Word is that 7 is much better in
many ways than Vista.  I have been using it and I have to agree.
