Start > Control Panel > Tools > Folder Options.  Click on the View tab.  Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)."  Click OK.  In XP and Vista, you can only use one switch at a time with the ATTRIB command.

Copy it to the same location on the new computer.
