Yes, and when I first got a WAS certificate it
was truly a day made in heaven as was my first
contact using a Heathkit sixer aeronautical
mobile as I flew over the Hamfest at the old
Ocean House in Swampscot.

But nostalgia doesn't affect facts --sigh.

There's a lot of truth to Richard Johnsons' take on Amateur Radio. I too share many of those sentiments.
But there's nothing more exciting, to me, than to work a "rare" contact on 40 meters CW at 3 AM.

I guess I like the hobby for different reasons.
