I remember going to the Denver Coliseum in the early 80's to see Jethro
Tull. Warmup was White Snake, the re-incarnation of Deep Purple. To say
White Snake was LOUD is a great understatement. I made my way to the below
decks mens room thinking I must be an old fart (at 28) as I can't stand the
sound level. Heck, all the young punkers etc were standing there with their
hands over their ears complaining. You really couldn't hear a thing. When
Ian Anderson took the stage to start Tull's gig, he motioned to the sound
crew to turn everything way down, and announced that their music didn't need
to be loud to be good, and then played three acoustic songs in a row to rest
everyones ears and calm down the crowd. Was a wonderful concert....
