CQ CQ CQ any radio engineers whose stations are streaming live video of their wacky morning team et al...
Typically, what kind of hardware/software combination do you use to convert your video and audio signals into a format appropriate for squirting over the World Wide Web? I'm not talking about a simple static webcam shot, but some of you heavy hitters that are using good cameras, perhaps a switcher and some computer graphics for an artistic presentation.
I need to look into a way to digitize and encode a general composite video signal (such as what comes out of an analog switcher or even a plain analog camcorder) for distribution over the Internet. A/V companies that handle remote webcasting have their own way of doing things, but I want to know how radio folks be doin' it.
Are you tied to a dedicated rackmount hardware device, or are some of you doing it with a common video capture card on a plain vanilla PC? REALLY interested in knowing here.
Thx.
