No. I won my High School science fair. That's what got me the 
interview on the station. WDEW gave me a far bigger prize - a very 
successful 45 year Commercial and Public Radio broadcast career. That 
couldn't happen today. It's owned by Gargantua International and 
LMA'd to a Public Radio station that wouldn't even grant me an 
interview for a job (sorry if the bitterness of the professional insult shows).

I was lucky, as were most of us. When we got in there were actually 
jobs available, even for a 13 year old kid.
